Georgios D. Kymionis

Professor of Ophthalmology,
Medical School, University of Athens

The professor holds the position of Ophthalmology at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and a former professor at the Medical School of the University of Lausanne in Switzerland (Jules Gonin Ophthalmic Hospital).

He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens in 1996.He completed his specialization in Ophthalmology at the University General Hospital of Heraklion and pursued further fellowship training in corneal diseases and surgery at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami (2007-2008).

Recognized by the Academy of Athens for his scientific work, particularly for his contribution to the development of corneal transplants in Greece.

According to the Academic Index AD Scientific Index and Google Scholar, he is ranked 1st in Greece, 22nd in Europe, and 81st globally based on his research work.
